This is Fabulous rendering of Monarca was created by Artist  Georgio Orefice.  Check out his gallery and see some of his other work.

This horse is a very well known stallion. He is a full blood brother to Willow Wind Mako, who has garnered several National titles and numerous accolades. Willow Wind, over the span of time, has become the single most famous direct Coral LaCE offspring. Monarca is one of the last offspring of Coral LaCE. The grandson of Don Danilo, Coral is also #2 foundation sire for N. A. S. H. A., 1972 U. S. Grand National Performance Champion and 13 times on the PFHA top ten sires list, including a two year reign as #1. Monarca obviously has a lot of other famous half siblings. His dams line traces on the top side, directly to "Monarca", 3 time Puerto Rican Island Champion. He is the son of Island Champion, "Principe" by Pocholo (a full blood brother to Dulce Sueño). Her bottom side traces directly to Puerto Rican Island Champion, "Boriqua", a speed-gaiting son of Batalla by Dulce Sueño. The following explains some of why Monarca is so well known:

  • 1991 West Coast Pleasure Champion, Schooling Colts & Geldings, 3 yrs. old in Monterey, Ca.
  • 1991 West Coast third Performance Champion, Schooling Colts & Geldings, 3 yrs. old in Monterey, Ca.
  • 1992 Winner of Pleasure Schooling Colts & Geldings, 4 yrs. old at the Cinco de Mayo celebration in Reno, NV.
  • 1992 West Coast Champion Pleasure Schooling Colts & Geldings, 4 yrs. old in Monterey, CA.
  • 1992 Fourth National Champion Pleasure Schooling Colts & Geldings at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center, Fortworth, TX.
  • 1994 Largo Race winner at show held in conjunction with the Utah Summer Games, Parawan, UT.
  • 1994 Reserve West Coast Champion Pleasure Stallions, Ventura, CA.
  • 1994 Reserve West Coast Largo Champion, Ventura, CA.
  • 1994 Grand National Driving Champion, Louisville, KY.
  • 1994 Reserve Grand National Largo Champion, Louisville, KY.
  • 1994 Fourth National Pleasure Stallion Champion, Louisville, KY.
  • 1994 Eighth National Champion (honorable mention) Junior Pleasure, Louisville, KY. This class was so large that it was split into three divisions. One of the three judges had him placed second at the conclusion of the final class.
  • 1995 Montana Gaited Horse Celebration Speed Gait Champion. Time (from a standing start) for the mile was 3 min. and 13 sec. with one complete stop in the middle of the race. Average gaiting speed of 18.6 MPH. In Bozeman, MT.
  • 1996 Montana Gaited Horse Celebration Reserve High Point Show Champion. Monarca was shown in a diversity of classes at Bozeman, MT.
  • 1996 C-Fair First Performance Stallions in Seattle, WA.
  • 1996 C-Fair Reserve Performance Champion in Seattle, WA.
  • 1996 West Coast Pleasure Champion in Los Angeles, CA.
  • 1996 Grand National Driving Champion in Memphis, TN.
  • 1996 Fourth National Champion Pleasure Stallions in Memphis, TN.
  • 1996 Third Grand National Champion Largo Race, Memphis, TN.
  • 1997 Winner of Performance Class at Utah State Fair in Salt Lake City, UT.

Monarca is currently registered with six different associations. He is featured in Videozines 1994 videotape, "True Paso Largo Horses of the World". His photo was used to demonstrate the Largo gait in the article, Largo, Por Favor! (see Conquistador Magazine, volume 5, no. 2, 1995 Paso Fino edition. Also see the article, Rediscovering Paso Fino Versatility, in vol. 5 no. 5 of same magazine). He is also featured in Paso Passion 1995 November issue (see article Paso Fino Dethrones Icelandics).

If you are looking to breed to a stallion that's been there, done that, Monarca is your boy. He is also good sized, with attractive conformation and gorgeous metallic golden buckskin color. He has an elegant headset with high snappy action and a pretty head with little fox ears. He's got excellent bone and a gentle disposition in spite of his brio. Monarca has been clocked at 20 MPH in accurate gait. He did the All- Breed Challenge speed gait race in Montana in 4 min. 30 sec. The average speed from a standing start, over 1 and 4/10 miles, was 18.62 MPH.

Monarca has 80 plus foals to his credit. Some of the first foals now coming under saddle are hitting speeds in excess of 16 MPH in accurate Largo, with very few weeks under saddle. I am extremely pleased with how well Monarca has nicked with our speed gaiting mares. Some of the things Monarca is now known for is a 75% color ratio, pretty heads, high natural head sets, leg extension rolling from the shoulder rather than from the knee, nice conformation, and excellent dispositions. He has a good record for shipping fresh chilled semen. Sometimes it is as high as 80% motility at 32 hrs. old out of the country. Monarca will be standing this season at a stud fee of $750.

A big powerful gray/dun stallion, he produces superb conformation and size. His sire, Majestuoso, is a multi top ten sire, including two years as #1. His dam, Flint Oak Autumn Breezes, is three times National Champion Fino mare by Trobador, a top ten sire and Hilachas son. Prime Times pedigree reads like the who's who of the top ten sire's list. He's 15.1 hands tall, has superb conformation and has a rapid precision gait with mucho brio and terrific hock action. Even being tight, Prime Time can gait 16 MPH. His gait is very rapid and smooth. As of Jan. 1, 1999, he had 24 foals on the ground. 20 of those were born dun. Six, out of 24, are already or will go gray. This stallion is an extremely strong dun factor producer. He gets it top and bottom on his pedigree. Special arrangements need to made to breed to this stallion, because he is on a ranch 80 miles away. I need advance notice to bring him in to collect him.

Prime Time's pedigree is as follows:

"Monarca" - (old Colombian dun) sired by Delerio (dun) who goes back to the old dun Marinos
  Duque
    Zazamora sired by Caribe--Gaucho--Jazmin
Majestuoso Multi Top 10 Sire

3.  Monarca's Eclipse Pisadas

Photo of Eclipse soon ~ here is his dam

Gitano.tif (224064 bytes)
Gitono Salago

This young stallion was by far our most popular breeding stallion in both 1997 & `98. I would hate to think this was due to the fact that by Jan. 1, 1999 he had sired 43 foals ( 34 palominos and 9 buckskins). That is 100% color. I would rather believe that it was because of who his sire is, Monarca (see Stallions at Stud) and his dam is Gitono Salago. She was a very well bred (and inbred) and well-conformed piece of buckskin dynamite. She was one horse that could leave Monarca in the dust for the first half mile. She could be at a top Largo speed of 18 MPH in about ten or twelve strides. That's quite a bit of G's on the rider. Gitono was pure Puerto Rican, performance, and real quick and catty. She had a very a high headset. Experienced riders loved her. Her bloodlines contain some of the best Puerto Rican speed gaiters. Her dam traces directly to Sortibras, Batalla, Deleite, Furioso, Noche Bueno & Dulce Sueno on the bottom side. Her sire is Tesoro Salago. Gitono's sire Tesoro (now you know the extent of the inbreeding, father to daughter) was a big, tall, showy and fast buckskin stallion descended from Sombre LaCE, Cori, Maria Luisa and Marinero on the bottom side. His top side goes to Siscocho LaCE. Siscocho is sired by Puerto Rican Island Champion, Sonador by Esi-si by Guamani. Siscocho's dam is a direct daughter of Guamani (he and Batalla are both by Dulce Sueno).

Eclipse was bred to speed gait. At 30 days under saddle, he was hitting speeds of 16 MPH, and he sure is smooth. He reminds me quite a bit of El Borillo. Eclipse spent quite a bit of time as a clean up stallion at the ranch and didn't get a great deal of training. I've currently got him at home in training before the 1999 breeding season starts. He is producing stocky conformation and good gait. His first foals will go under saddle in the spring of 1999. Eclipse is a full blood brother to Elegante and Galleta. Both are well known mares in speed gait circles and are featured on the video "True Paso Largo Horses of the World."

Eclipse is a rare, true cremello. He received a CR gene from each parent on a chestnut background. He has the genetic power to dilute any color bred to him, producing 100% palomino out of chestnuts and about 50% palomino or buckskin out of bays. Statistically, Eclipse has a 91% chance of producing color and a 9% chance of producing black. So far he has produced color every time. Eclipse holds our record and other records for A.I. motility on the client's end, 90%. That's impressive!  $900.

Andejar Esteban

Click on Picture to enlarge  Andejar.jpg (17818 bytes)

This young pinto has been by far our most popular stallion for people looking to get pinto foals. He is producing beautifully marked foals and is in high demand. He is a beautiful black bay & white tobiano pinto. He is a full blood brother to Ultra Esteban, who is a pinto reining Paso Fino. His sire, Pegasus Esteban, was unbeatable on the show circuit in pleasure, and took third at nationals, even when a hoof trimming mistake had left him very tender. This colt carries the bloodlines of Cosa Differente, Boriqua and three time Grand National champion Bandolero Royal (all three are speed gaiters).

By 1/1/99 Andy had 22 foals on the ground. All had nice conformation and were nicely gaited. 15 foals were pinto and 4 were black. Some were jet-black & white. Bloodlines are as follows:

Marichal - Grand National Conformation Champion (black) by Bolero a black foundation sire.
  Bandolero Royal - (black)
    Endora
Pegasus Estaban
pinto

Don Migeul Estaban (black) by Boriqua, a son of Batalla
  Cosa Differente Estaban (pinto)
    Fudia Estaban
(pinto)

    Hilachas
  Garbo que tal
Sombra (Black dam of Favorito, Bandito, etc. Sombra produced 3 sons and all 3 became top 10 sires)
La Caprichosa de Barbo
    El Capricho
  Gitana de Viz Caya
    La Cacela de Viz-Caya

Andy's fresh chilled semen ships very well. He will stand the 1999 season at $800.

5.  Monteado de Pegasus Pisadas

This beautiful tri-colored, blood red/bay & white pinto is sired by Pegasus Esteban (black & white) out of Norelle de Encante (black/bay). She is a Campasino LaCE daughter out of a pure Puerto Rican pinto mare. Campasino is a Bolero LaCE (black foundation sire) son out of a Muñeco (two time Grand National Fino Champion) mare. Monteado's grandfather on the top side is Bandolero Royal (3 time Grand National Performance Champion). He also goes to Cosa Differente and Boriqua to Batalla. Monteado has produced 100% color to date, one black & white out of a chestnut mare and two red/bay & whites out of buckskin and red/bay mares. He is producing nice conformation and good dispositions, as well as very loud color. Monteado has a nice long, smooth Largo and an easy, rocking chair canter. Being a Largo pinto and with his type of gait, Monteado makes an excellent Western Pleasure type Paso. His chilled semen ships nicely. In order to further promote Monteado as a breeding stallion  his stud fee is $500.

1.  Monarca's El Blanco Pisadas

This Perlino/cremello colt should have a very interesting color producing record. He carries both cremello and Perlino characteristics. He is big and well bred to be a Largo horse. His sire is Monarca, and his dam is Alegria Salago. She is carrying the blood lines of Tesoro Salago, Sonador, Guamani, Sombre LaCE, Maria Luisa, Cori and Marinero on the top side. She also carries Muñeco, Furioso, Noche Buena and Dulce Sueno on the bottom. This colt isn't yet under saddle, but shows great promise as a speed gaiter. He will go under saddle in the spring of `99. He doesn't yet have any offspring on the ground. 1999 Introductory Stud fee is $500.

2.  Monarca's Mikasa Pisadas

This buttermilk buckskin is sired by Monarca out of the dun mare, Maravilla donde es. Her sire, Faralero Que Tal (Top 10 Sire) and her dam, Fabla Que Tal are both direct offspring of Hilachas Que Tal (3 times #1 sire in the nation and multi top ten sire). Faralero's dam, Oriana, was the only pure Puerto Rican mare that Dave Jones ever purchased to go into the Que Tal broodmare band. He picked her because of her superior conformation, especially in the loin area. He should have a really fast Hilachas Largo. This colt will be a good breeding prospect for those who like the Coral LaCE and Halite’s cross. He isn't under saddle yet, but will be started in the spring of `99. He doesn't have any offspring on the ground. His 1999 Introductory Stud fee will be $350.
